Wharton Speaker >> Biography

This year marks Matthew's 21st consecutive forum.  Currently, Matthew is CEO of Kota Global Securities, a boutique investment bank.  Kota allows Matthew to take advantage of his international connections and past experience in the brokerage and international private equity areas.

Matthew Greene founded Anvil Global Partners, a Fund of PE & VC Funds focusing on China, India, Middle East North Africa, and also the marketing arm of Wharton GCP in that region.  Anvil, founded in 2006, established a strong network and presence in China and India.  Mathew has traveled to China 35 times in the last 5 years and to India 20 times in the last 4 years.  Anvil’s plan was through investing in PE & VC funds, Anvil could simultaneously create a vehicle that could help fund future GCP projects in China & India.  Anvil at this time has ceased funding efforts until the global fundraising environment has improved.

Matthew has already helped Wharton GCP to establish alliances with Beijing University, Fudan University, National Taiwan University, University of Sharjah, and to revive the partnership with India School of Business.  Through active potential client sourcing, Anvil helped to sign on the first 2 clients for the China project in 2006, progressed the India projects by helping to source 1 of the clients in 2007, and established pipelines for potential China & Taiwan projects for 2008/2009.

Matthew is on both the Wharton Board of Overseers and the Board of Advisors of Wharton GCP.  Aside from being part of the boards, Matthew has also been an active participant & contributor to various Wharton events, including Wharton conferences, economic forums, career panels, and Wharton Welcome Weekend.

Prior to Anvil Global Partners, Matthew has 20+ year of experience at Utendahl Capital, Goldman Sachs, Drexel Burnham, and IBM.  Matthew has an established record in investment banking, investment management, capital markets, sales & trading, and has participated in over 200 IPOs in the US.

Matthew earned his MBA in Finance from the Wharton School and his BS in Computer Science from the Syracuse University.
