Shannon Berning is Executive Editor of Wharton Digital Press (, an innovative global all-digital business publisher of ebooks, enhanced ebooks, and print books available through print-on-demand technology.

In collaboration with Knowledge@Wharton, the School’s online journal of research and business analysis, Wharton Digital Press brings together communities of readers and authors committed to identifying and solving the critical problems business managers face today.  Leveraging a wide range of cutting-edge digital technologies, Wharton Digital Press helps inspire authors to develop bold, insightful messages and communicate in creative ways with their audiences. 

With more than 16 years’ experience as an editor, Berning was most recently director of product development at Kaplan Publishing, where she acquired more than 85 nonfiction trade titles in the categories of business, including career, leadership/management, and personal finance; health; biography/memoir; reference; law; general nonfiction; and more. While there, she acquired the majority of the assets for Cleveland Clinic Press, expanding Kaplan’s publishing program into the health category. She oversees acquisitions and manuscript development for Wharton Digital Press, working closely with authors from the first spark of an idea to delivery of the book to the reader.
