Andrew has been with Lightspeed since 2006 and has helped lead Lightspeed's entry into new areas of investment that include cleantech, education, genomics, and healthcare IT. Andrew is an active director or observer on the boards of Orbis Education, Solazyme, Stion and Coaltek.


Andrew has been involved in completing 16 of Lightspeed's investments across the U.S., China and India – in solar (SolarEdge; Stion), bioenergy (LS9; Solazyme), storage (Leyden), traditional energy (Coaltek; MSP/Drilex), LED lighting (Exclara), bioinformatics (Gene Security Network), genomics (Real Time Genomics), social gaming (Serious Business, acquired by Zynga), education (Orbis) and supply chain services (PCH International).


Andrew chairs the Cleantech Advisory Board for The Indus Entrepreneurs Group (TiE), serves on the Advisory Board for Stanford Energy Crossroads, and is a frequent speaker for the Cleantech Open (CTO). Andrew has also advised California Lt. Governor John Garamendi, U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Speier and the California Commission for Economic Development on cleantech-related policy issues. Andrew's recent speaking engagements have included "The Future of Life Science Funding" at the EPPIC Life Sciences Conference, "Venture Investing in Cleantech" at the SIPA Annual Conference, and "Cleantech State of the Union" at TiECon 2010.


Prior to Lightspeed, Andrew worked at Bain Capital and TL Ventures, where he supported leveraged buyout and venture investments in healthcare, software and semiconductors. Previously, he worked as a strategy consultant with Bain & Company in Greater China, serving clients in the energy generation, consumer electronics and private equity sectors. Prior to Bain, Andrew co-founded and led operations for UberWorks (acquired by NWKC), an e-commerce content aggregation startup incubated at Trilogy, and directed product management at OnStation, a CRM software company. He also previously worked with Coopers & Lybrand in the healthcare regulatory group, developing database systems and applications for revenue cycle management.


Andrew graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Andrew is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese Chinese. Andrew is also an avid musician, having performed as a vocalist and conductor at distinguished venues like the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Shanghai Conservatory and an off-Broadway musical theatre.
